Your Message Inbox:

Your message inbox is the screen HeyWire automatically opens to when you open the app.

  • The triangle in the top left corner of each thread in your inbox indicates whether the thread is a text, your Twitter feed, or a Facebook chat.
  • A red dot indicates an unread message.

Sending Messages

To Create & Send a New Message:

1. Tap the “New Message” button in your Message Inbox.

2. You can send a message to up to 10 people at once. There are 3 ways to do this:

  • a. Pick from Contact Lists:
  1. Tap the “+” button and tap the contact(s) you want.
  2. ii. Tap in the text box (located at the bottom of the screen) and type your message.
  • b. Search:
  1. Tap next to the “To:” and begin typing the name of any desired contact to search your address book. Then, tap his/her name when it appears.
  2. Place your cursor in the text box (located at the bottom of the screen) and type your message.
  • c. Manual:
  1. Tap next to the “To:” and begin typing the mobile number of the contact you want to send a message to.
  2. Tap “Next” once you have entered the number.
  3. Type another mobile number for another contact, or tap “Next” to start typing your message.

3. Tap the “Send” button OR the large arrow button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Tip: To delete a contact, simply tap the contact name and hold until you see the option to “Remove” or “Cancel.” Tap “Remove” and your message will not be sent to that contact.

Cancelling a Message:

If you decide you no longer want to send a message you already started typing, simply tap the Back button on your Android device.

Deleting Messages

To Delete Individual Messages in Your Inbox:
1. Tap on the thread you’d like to edit.
2. Tap the individual message bubble that you want to delete and hold until you see three options—“Copy,” “Forward,” and “Delete.”
3. Tap “Delete” to erase.

To Delete an Entire Thread

Try This:

1. Tap and hold your finger on the thread you want to delete until you see three options—“Open,” “Delete,” and “Delete Prior.”
2. Tap “Delete”.
3. Tap OK if you’re “Sure you want to delete this thread?”
Note: Tap “Delete Prior” to delete ALL threads in your inbox prior to that thread.
i. Tap OK if you’re “Sure you want to delete all threads prior to this one?”

…Or try this:
1. Tap the thread you want to delete.
2. Tap the Menu button on your Android device.
3. Tap “Delete” to erase all messages within that specific thread.
4. Tap OK if you’re “Sure you want to delete these messages?”

Search Messages

Do you ever want to find a particular message in your inbox, but don’t want to scroll through every single thread to find it? No worries, that’s what the search box is for!

1. Tapping the Search button on your Android device.
2. Type in any word or phrase you want to find—your threads will filter automatically.
3. Tap on the thread(s) that result—your search words will be highlighted in yellow within the text.

Quickly Call a Contact:

1. Tap the thread with the person you want to call.
2. Tap the Menu button on your Android device.
3. Tap “Call”.
Note: You can only make phone calls from Android devices with a built-in phone.

To Add a Contact:

1. Tap the thread with the person you want to add.
2. Tap the Menu button on you Android device.
3. Tap the “View/Add Contact” button.
4. Tap the “+” button in the top right corner.
5. Select the address book you want to save the contact in (ex: Tablet, Google…).
6. Place your cursor in the various text boxes to enter info.
7. Tap “Done”.

To Edit Contact Information:

1. Tap the thread with the person you want to add.
2. Tap the Menu button on you Android device.
3. Tap the “View/Add Contact” button.
4. Tap the “Edit” button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
5. Place your cursor in the various text boxes to edit info.
6. Tap “Done”.
Tip: Tap “Cancel” to return to your address book without editing anything.

To Zoom in on a Message Bubble:

1. Tap any message bubble within a thread to enlarge the font.
2. Tap again to return the bubble to its normal size.
